Pranayama
Pranayama is the practice of enhancing “Vital Energy” or “Lifeforce” through conscious
breathing. It goes beyond just lung and heart function—breathing is deeply connected to
one’s state of mind. In today’s fast-paced world, shallow breathing is common,
contributing to respiratory issues like asthma and blood pressure, as well as
psychosomatic problems such as stress, anxiety, diabetes, and hypertension.
At Adishakti Yogpeeth, we teach Pranayama as the solution to these modern ailments.
Pranayama serves as the bridge between the mind and body, allowing for greater harmony
and balance. By learning various breathing techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing,
chest breathing, and alternate nostril breathing, you can gain control over your breath.
This leads to increased stability, longer practice sessions, and reduced fatigue,
ultimately helping you lead a healthier, more balanced life.
Hawana
Fire symbolizes transformation 🕉,
and in Sanskrit, the “Fire Ritual” is known as “Hawan.” At Adishakti Yogpeeth, this sacred
ceremony marks the beginning of our Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh. Conducted as
an
opening ceremony, the Hawan is a prayer to the Universe, seeking blessings for our journey
and
guidance towards the light of wisdom. During this ritual, various spiritual herbs and ghee
are
offered into the fire, purifying the environment and amplifying the positive energy of the
space.
So, what will you learn in the Yoga Teacher Training Course at Adishakti Yogpeeth?
Asana
In Patanjali’s Yogasutra, “Asanas” are defined as “sthira sukham asanam,” meaning “steady and
comfortable posture.”
This reflects a state of physical and mental stability, comfort, and relaxation. At Adishakti
Yogpeeth, we honor this traditional wisdom through the practice of Hatha Yoga, balanced with
the
dynamic flow of Vinyasa Yoga. This blend allows students to understand the harmony of
energy,
the synchronization of breath, and the seamless transition between postures, creating a
deeper
practice at both gross and subtle levels.
In addition to Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga, we offer Adjustment & Alignment classes to
help
practitioners refine their asanas, focusing on alignment, safety, and modifications to
enhance
the practice. Our skilled Vinyasa Flow teachers guide you in energizing the body through
movement and breath, promoting internal cleansing and muscle flexibility.
Our experienced Hatha Yoga teachers emphasize proper alignment, ensuring you can confidently
teach asanas to your students, minimizing the risk of pain or injury. At Adishakti Yogpeeth,
our
approach combines ancient tradition with modern techniques, empowering practitioners to
elevate
their yoga journey.
Yoga Anatomy
“Chiti Jal Pawak Gagan Sameera” – “Earth, Water, Fire, Ether, Air”
“Panchrachit Ati Adham Sareera” – “Five Elements Constitute the Body”
According to Ayurveda, the human body is composed of these five great elements, and upon
death,
we merge back into them. At Adishakti Yogpeeth, our Yogic Anatomy and Physiology courses
delve
deeply into the structure and functioning of the human body from both yogic and Ayurvedic
perspectives. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the body’s composition, its
movements, and limitations, alongside a study of doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—according to
Ayurveda, and modern medical representations of the body.
Yogic Anatomy:
We cover the structural anatomy, focusing on bones, joints, anatomical planes, and the body’s
movements. Understanding these foundations enhances awareness and precision in asana
practice.
Yogic Physiology:
In Yogic Physiology, we explore how various systems, including the Digestive System,
Respiratory
System, and Central Nervous System, function in correlation with yogic practices. We teach
students how practices like asana, Pranayama, Shatkarma, Mudra, Bandha, and meditation
affect
and support these vital systems.
At Adishakti Yogpeeth, our holistic approach equips students with the knowledge to deepen
their
yoga practice and cultivate a heightened awareness of the body’s workings.
Mantra
“Chanting mantras shields us from all troubles.”
The Sanskrit word ‘Mantra’ comes from the combination of two words: ‘Man,’ meaning mind,
thoughts, or perception, and ‘Tra,’ meaning instrument or tool. In simple terms, a mantra is
a
sacred sound or powerful phrase that, when chanted correctly, helps harmonize the body and
mind.
At Adishakti Yogpeeth, every yoga class begins with mantra chanting to balance energy and
create
a positive atmosphere.
Here, you will not only learn the importance of mantras but also explore the different types
of
mantras, how to recite them, and their connection to the chakras. You’ll also gain insights
into
the discipline and practice of mantra chanting, allowing you to deepen your spiritual
practice
and enhance your overall well-being.
Yogic Pholosophy
Yogic Philosophy at Adishakti Yogpeeth
“Yoga stops the fluctuations of the mind” — this profound teaching from the second verse of
the
Patanjali Yoga Sutras highlights how yoga brings stillness and calm by quieting unnecessary
thoughts.
At Adishakti Yogpeeth, we believe that understanding yogic philosophy is essential for a
complete
yoga practice. Without it, yoga is merely a physical exercise of stretching and balancing.
Through philosophy, we explore the deeper physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of
yoga.
Our philosophy classes delve into essential concepts like Moksha (Liberation), the origins of
yoga, and ancient wisdom from the Vedas and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. You’ll learn about Chitta
(consciousness), attachments, and the subtle aspects of existence. By embracing these
teachings, you gain insights that transform your practice—from the physical to the mental,
and
ultimately,to the spiritual level.
At Adishakti Yogpeeth, we ensure that every student receives a holistic understanding of
yoga,
empowering them to experience its profound benefits on every level.
Meditation
Our busy routines often make us forget to spend quality time with ourselves. Meditation,
which
involves deep reflection, is a powerful way to check in on both our mental and spiritual
well-being. It trains the mind to find calm, helping us to avoid extremes of emotion and
cultivate inner balance. As one of yoga’s most effective techniques, meditation allows us to
explore heightened levels of awareness. Many renowned yogis—such as Lord Buddha, Swami
Vivekananda, Swami Sivananda, and Swami Rama—were dedicated practitioners of meditation.
So, how should one sit for meditation? Sit in the Lotus pose, rest your hands in Gyan Mudra,
close your eyes, and allow your mind to relax. This posture, with its physical steadiness,
encourages mental stillness, bringing us into the present and fostering mindfulness.
